Who We Are

Bobbie Jo Leggett – State Program Director

Bobbie Jo Leggett is the State Program Director of CAREgivers by Active Generations in Sioux Falls. The CAREgivers program offers a menu of evidenced-based programs for family caregivers to choose from to begin the resource education, self-awareness and acceptance of resources. The CAREgivers program helps people identify themselves as a caregiver and offers programs such as stress reducing classes for family caregivers, Caregiver Case Manager, First Steps Advanced PlanningTM, AMPTM and other programs. She attended the University of Phoenix receiving her Associates in Psychology and Bachelors in Communications.

Jillian Bryan – Outreach Caregiver Case Manager

Jillian Bryan is the new Outreach Caregiver Case Manager at Active Generations. Jillian had previously interned with the CAREgivers program for a semester and enjoyed it immensely. Being able to advocate and speak to others about the needs of the caregiver, as well as co-facilitate classes for StressbustersTM has been a great experience. Previously, Jillian had attended the University of South Dakota and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work.

Deborah Beringer, LBSW – Caregiver Case Manager

Deb Beringer is the Caregiver Case Manager for Sioux Falls and surrounding communities and started when the program first began in 2015.  She is a licensed social worker and prior to this position she had been the Director of Social Services at a Long Term Care Facility in Sioux City for 25 years.  She has degrees from both the University of Iowa and The University of Northern Iowa.  Deb has routinely observed that when family caregivers gain awareness of resources and are offered support groups, education, and counseling, there is a positive impact on their role as caregiver.

Jenaleah Block – Intern

Jenaleah Block is an intern at CAREgivers by Active Generations. Before starting her internship, Jenaleah graduated from Augustana University with a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Psychology and Religion. She is currently finishing her first year in the Master of Social Work program through the University of South Dakota.
